Tavares Scores Overtime Winner As Leafs Wins Third Straight

Despite getting a penalty at the end of the third period last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to beat the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1, thanks to their captain, John Tavares.

"I thought it was a good game," said Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock at the post game press conference.

"I thought we were better in the first period and I thought they, (Vegas), were better in the second," said Babcock.

There was no scoring until the third period.

Max Pacioretty opened the scoring  for Vegas 4:08 into the third.

Auston Matthews tied the game on the man advantage at 8:14.

2:33 into overtime, Tavares scored after receiving a terrific pass by Mitch Marner.

Tavares finished the night with two points.

John Tavares was the hero last night.

Toronto's goalie, Frederik Andersen, had a really good night in goal stopping 37 shots.

Golden Knight's goalie, Malcolm Subban, had an equally good night, stopping 35 shots.

Toronto hosts the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow night.
