Eichel Ends Leaf's Win Streak

The three-game winning streak ended yesterday for the Toronto Maple Leafs as the team was defeated 6-4 by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Leafs went ahead 2-0 with goals by team captain, John Tavares in both the first and second periods.

The Sabres, however, scored four unanswered goals in the second period to go ahead 4-2.

"We were really sloppy with the puck," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe after the game.  "We didn't have the same level of play."

Sabre's captain. Jack Eichel, scored two goals in the game, including an empty-netter in the third period.

Eichel had three points yesterday.

Jeff Skinner, Casey Mittelstadt, Victor Olofsson, and Jimmy Vesey all scored for Buffalo.

Dmytro Timashov and Kasperi Kapanen also scored for the Leafs.

Kapanen had two points.

Toronto's goalie, Michael Hutchinson, stopped 30 shots.

Buffalo's Marco Scandella had two assists.

The Toronto Maple Leafs want redemption tonight after losing 6-4 to the Buffalo Sabres yesterday.

Before yesterday's loss, the Leafs were on a three-game winning streak.

The Sabres are 3-8-3 in their last 14 games and are 1-35 on the power play.

Sabre's Sam Reinhart has a single goal in nine games.

Johnsson Scores Two In 6-0 Leaf's Romp Over Wings

The Toronto Maple Leafs had no problem with the Detroit Red Wings last night as the team won 6-0.

It wasn't a good night for Detroit.

Goalie, Jim Howard removed himself from the game at 9:48 of the first period with an injury.

A really ill Jonathan Bernier had to take Howard's place in goal.

The Leafs got out of the gate quickly as Travis Dermott scored 1:04 into the game.

Just 1:20 later, Tyson Barrie scored.

"I really liked how we started in the game," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the post game press conference.

At 9:48 of the first period, Leaf's captain, John Tavares, scored.

Just 1:03 into the second period, William Nylander scored.

Andreas Johansson scored back to back goals at 3:34 and 7:07.

Preview: Leafs Versus Red Wings

The Toronto Maple Leafs go for their third win in a row tonight.

The Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 on October 12.

Detroit has the worst record in the NHL and is on a six game losing streak.

Detroit also has lowest-scoring offence.

Leafs Win Second Straight Under New Bench Boss.

It was a nail biter, but the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-3, giving the team their second straight win.

"Wins in general are important," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe after the game.

"I like that we persevered,"

Just 31 seconds into the game, Nathan McKinnon scored to put the Avalanche ahead 1-0.

Toronto didn't give up, though.

Nicholas Shore tied the game at 9:49 of the first period.

Toronto went ahead 2-1 when Auston Matthews scored his 16th goal of the season at 10:56.

Tyson Barrie scored his second goal of the year at 13:22.

Kasperi Kapanen scored on a break away at 17:36 to put the Leafs ahead 4-1.

It seemed as if the Leafs had the game under control.

Colorado, however, played hard in the second and third periods.

The Leafs seemed to lose their spark.

"We just looked like a tired team," said Keefe.

Andre Burakosky scored on the power play at 10:21 of the second period.

Valeri Nichuskin closed the gap to 4-3 at 6:54 of the third period.

Thankfully, Zach Hyman scored an empty-netter for Toronto with just a second to go in the game.

Toronto's goalie, Frederik Andersen, was crucial to his team last night, stopping the Avs. from tying the game, especially, with the extra attacker.

Andersen stopped 34 shots last night.

Colorado's Nazem Kadri had two assists.

The Leafs are off for three nights.

Toronto is in Detroit on Wednesday night to take on the Red Wings.

Barrie Finally Scores First Goal, Keefe Gets His First NHL Win

The losing skid is over.

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-1 last night, giving new head coach, Sheldon Keefe his first National Hockey League win.

"The guys went out and played with confidence," said Keefe after the game.

There was two more firsts surrounding this game.

Tyson Barrie finally scored his first goal as a Leaf at 19:14 of the first period.

Then, at 16:49 of the second period, Pierre Engvall scored his first ever NHL goal short handedly.

48 seconds into the third period, Auston Matthews put the Leafs ahead 3-0 with his 15th goal of the season.

Unfortunately, Toronto didn't get the shut out as Vinnie Hinostroza scored with the extra attacker at 19:43.

Toronto's Ilya Mikheyev had two assists.

Leaf's goalie, Frederik Andersen, stopped 30 shots.

Coyote's goalie, Darcy Kuemper, also stopped 30 shots last night.

Toronto is in Colorado tomorrow night to take on the Avalanche.

Leafs Lose Sixth Straight And Fire Babcock

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost another game last night.

The Leafs lost 4-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights.

This was the team's sixth straight loss.

As a result, the Leafs fired head coach, Mike Babcock today.

As for the game, there was no scoring in the first period.

Cody Glass put Vegas ahead 1-0 at 8:07 of the second period with a power play goal.

Glass finished the night with two points.

Jason Spezza tied the game at 7:26 of the third period.

Vegas went ahead again when Tomas Nosek scored at 8:08.

Mark Stone scored on the power play at 10:22.

Zach Hyman closed the gap to 3-2  with a power play goal at 12:47.

Cody Eakin added an empty-netter at 19:39.

Max Pacioretty had two assists.

Preview: Leafs Versus Golden Knights

T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NEV.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are desperate to end to losing skid tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The last time the two teams met on November 2, Toronto won 2-1 in overtime.

It was also the last time Toronto won a game.

Since then, the Leafs went 0-4-1 in their last five games.

The Golden Knights were also on a five game losing streak, but ended it on Sunday by defeating the Calgary Flames 6-0.

Vegas's William Karlsson is hot with seven points in three games.

No Excuses For Leaf's Poor Performance

Mike Babcock was not pleased with his team's performance.

Toronto Maple Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock, made no excuses for his team's poor performance in last night's 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"There's no reason for us to look the way we did last night," said Babcock at the post game press conference.

"They, (the Penguins), were way better than us," he said.

Pittsburgh's Dominic Kuhun scored two goals.

Kuhun finished the night with three points.

Dominic Kuhun had a three point night, (two goals, an assist).

Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin, Jared McCann, and Brian Rust also scored for Pittsburgh.

Rust also had a three point night.

Jason Spezza scored the lone goal for the Leaf's.

Penguin's goalie, Tristian Jarry stopped 32 shots.

Toronto's goalie, Kasimir Kaskisuo also stopped 32 shots.

Toronto doesn't play until Tuesday night, where the Leafs head to Vegas to face the Golden Knights.

Leafs Extend Losing Streak

When is the misery going to end.

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost again last night to the Boston Bruins 4-2.

Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock spoke to the media after the game and was quite positive about his team's performance.

"I thought it was a good hockey game," said Babcock at the post game press conference.

To Leafs fans, nothing was positive about last night's loss.

It was the Leaf's fourth straight loss.

Charlie Coyle scored the lone goal in the first period.

Auston Matthews tied the game 1-1 at 9:20 of the second period.

11 seconds into the third period, Brad Marchand scored to put the Bruins ahead 2-1.

Kasperi Kapanen tied the game at 3:54.

Unfortunately for Toronto, Marchand scored again at 5:08.

Brad Marchand had a two goal night.

Zdeno Chara added an empty netter at 18:27.

Coyle had a two point night.

Leaf's goalie, Frederik Andersen stopped 30 shots.

The Leafs face the Penguins in Pittsburgh tonight.

Toronto has a really tough task tonight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hope to end their three game losing streak tonight when the team faces the Boston Bruins.

Leafs Lose Third Straight

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a fairly good performance last night, however, it wasn't good enough as the New York Islanders won 5-4.

"The third period, we weren't as good as we need to be," said Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock, at the post game press conference.

The Leafs started out good in the first period, though.

"I thought we had an outstanding start," said Babcock.

Unfortunately, the Islanders went ahead 2-0 in the first period with goals by Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier.

The Leafs tied the game in the second period with goals by Kasperi Kapanen and William Nylander.

Beauvillier scored again at 16:43 of the second, putting New York ahead again 3-2.

Anthony Beauvillier scored two goals last night in 5-4 Islanders win over Toronto.


Derick Brassard made it a 4-2 game at 8:07 of the third period.

Casey Citizkas added an empty netter at 17:32.

Toronto, however, weren't quite done scoring.

Justin Holl scored at 18:13 and John Tavares scored at 19:22.

Tavares finished the night with two points.

Brassard had a three point night.

Toronto hosts the Boston Bruins tomorrow night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing their first game since Sunday.

Toronto lost 5-4 to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The New York Islanders are a defensive minded team.

Kane Does The Damage In Leaf's Loss

It is safe to say the Chicago Blackhawk's sniper Patrick Kane destroyed the Toronto Maple Leafs last night.

"We didn't start very good obviously, " said head Leaf's coach, Mike Babcock after the game.

"The first 10 minutes weren't good enough."

5:18 into the first period, Kane scored to put Chicago ahead 1-0.

Kirby Dach made it a 2-0 game at 12:00.

10 seconds later, Kane scored a again.

Kane had three points last night.

Patrick Kane had a three point night against the Leafs.

William Nylander put the Leafs on the scoreboard at 16:29.

Unfortunately for Toronto, Jonathan Toews scored Chicago fourth goal at 17:28.

There was no scoring in the second period.

2:27 into the third period Nylander scored again.

John Tavares made it a 4-3 game at 12:41.

Brandon Saad put the Blackhawks up by two goals again at 16:26.

Andreas Johnson added a goal at 19:18, but it wasn't' enough as Chicago walked away with the 5-4 victory.

Chicago's Alex DeBrincat had three assists.

Blackhawk's goalie, Robin Lehner, was busy, stopping 53 shots.

Auston Matthews had four assists.

Toronto is off for two days before heading to New York to face the Islanders on Wednesday night.

Marner Injures Right Ankle In Leaf's Shoot Out Loss

Despite losing 3-2 in a shoot out to the Philadelphia Flyers last night, Toronto Maple Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock, had nothing, but good things to say about the game.

"I actually thought it was a good hockey game," said Babcock at the post game press conference.

There was, however, a real bad thing that happened to the Leafs last night.

Mitch Marner injured his right ankle in the second period, went to the dressing room and didn't return.

A MRI on Marner's ankle is scheduled tomorrow.

Philadelphia went ahead quickly 2-0 in the first period with goals by Philippe Myers and Oskar Lindblom.

Travis Dermott closed the gap at 2-1 at 10:11 of the second period.

William Nylander tied the game at 3:58 of the third period.

There was no scoring in overtime.

Philadelphia won the shoot out 2 goals to 1.

Flyer's goalie, Brain Elliott, stopped 38 shots.

Toronto's Auston Matthews had two assists.

Nylander had two points.

Leaf's goalie, Frederik Andersen stopped 30 shots last night.

United Centre, Chicago, IL.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are 3-3-0 on the road.

The Chicago Blackhawks are 4-3-2 at home.

This month, the Leafs are performing good.

The team has a 3-0-1 record and has outscored their opponents 11-8 in November.

Toronto's Auston Matthews has 13 goals and 21 points in his fist 18 games.

The Leafs are without Mitch Marner tonight.

Marner suffered a right ankle injury last night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Preview: Flyers Versus Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are going for their fourth straight win when the team hosts the Philadelphia Flyers tonight.

The Leafs defeated the Flyers last Saturday 4-3 in an 11 round shoot out.

The Flyers have 18 points in 15 games.

Philadelphia has been dangerous in the third period lately.

The Flyers have outscored their opponents 23-13 in the third.

Philadelphia's Travis Konecny is the player to watch tonight.

Konecny has 16 points this season.

As for the Leafs, their power play is struggling.

Toronto is 21st in the National Hockey League in power play percentage with 17.2.

Toronto went 1 for 6 on the man advantage in a 2-1 overtime victory on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Tavares Scores Overtime Winner As Leafs Wins Third Straight

Despite getting a penalty at the end of the third period last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to beat the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1, thanks to their captain, John Tavares.

"I thought it was a good game," said Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock at the post game press conference.

"I thought we were better in the first period and I thought they, (Vegas), were better in the second," said Babcock.

There was no scoring until the third period.

Max Pacioretty opened the scoring  for Vegas 4:08 into the third.

Auston Matthews tied the game on the man advantage at 8:14.

2:33 into overtime, Tavares scored after receiving a terrific pass by Mitch Marner.

Tavares finished the night with two points.

John Tavares was the hero last night.


Toronto's goalie, Frederik Andersen, had a really good night in goal stopping 37 shots.

Golden Knight's goalie, Malcolm Subban, had an equally good night, stopping 35 shots.

Toronto hosts the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won two straight and have a home record of 5-2-3.

The Vegas Golden Knights lost two in a row before defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Tuesday, the same night the Leafs beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1.

Gritty Performance Helps Leafs Get Their Second Straight Win

The Toronto Maple Leafs put on a gritty performance last night against the Los Angeles Kings and won 3-1.

"We knew it was going to be a grind," said Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock, at the post game press conference.

"I thought it was really good game for our team."

The Leafs also managed to stay out of the penalty box.

Toronto just had three penalties in the game.

There was no scoring in the first period.

Alex Lafallo put L.A. ahead 1-0 at 5:46 of the second period.

Alex Kerfoot tied the game at 13:29.

Auston Matthews put the Leafs ahead 2-1 at 12:36 of the third period.

William Nylander added another goal for Toronto at 13:06.

Both Matthews and Nylander had two points.

Preview: Kings Versus Leafs

John Tavares and Jake Muzzin are back in the Toronto Maple Leaf's lineup tonight.

That is excellent news for the team.

Muzzin was a member of the Los Angeles Kings when the team won the Stanley Cup in 2014.

Both teams won their previous games.

L.A. has just won five out of their last 14 games.

Toronto has lost four out of their five games, partly because of the bad penalties they've been taken.
