Jays Edge Tigers In First Of Four

Marcus Stroman, (Above), won his first game of the season last night.

Toronto Blue Jay's pitcher, Marcus Stroman, finally won his first win of the season, helping his team to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers last night.

Stroman went seven innings, giving up just four hits, an earned run, no walks and struck out four batters.

The Tigers scored first at the top of the third inning when Jacoby Jones scored on a double play.

Toronto went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Justin Smoak hit a two run homer.

Later that same inning, Randal Grichuk drove in Russell Martin with a single to make it 3-1 Jays.

At the top of the seventh inning, Jeimer Candelario closed the gap by hitting a solo home run, but the Jays held on to win the game.

Smoak went 1 for 3 and collected two RBIs.


Doughty Signs Extension. Capitals Hire New Coach

(Above), Drew Doughty signed a eight-year, $88 million contract extension yesterday.

With just a year to go on his eight-year, $56 million deal he signed in 2011, Drew Doughty agreed to a eight-year, $88 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Kings yesterday.

Doughty is among the top 10 defencemen in the National Hockey League.

In 2017-18, he had a career high of 60 points.

Doughty has two Stanley Cup titles and two Olympic gold medals playing for Team Canada.

Doughty also won the Norris Trophy, (league's top defeceman), in 2016.

In his 10 year career, entirely with the Kings, Doughty has 102 goals, 320 assists, and 422 points.  He has also appeared in 84 playoff games and has 51 postseason points.

Capitals Hire New Coach

Yesterday, the Washington Capitals announced that the club has hired Todd Reirden as their new head coach to replace Barry Trotz, who resigned a few weeks ago.

Reirden has spent for years with the Capitals as an assistant and an associate coach.

Preview: Tigers Verses Blue Jays


Probable Pitchers:

DET: Francisco Liriano - 3-3, 3.94 ERA., 48 Ks.

TOR: Marcus Stroman - 0-5, 6.80 ERA,. 37 Ks.

Both teams lost their last series.

The Detroit Tigers lost a four game series to the Oakland Athletics.

The Toronto Blue Jays lost a heartbreaker to the Houston Astros on Wednesday, losing the three game series.

The Jays face their former pitcher, Francisco Liriano.

Despite the 0-5 record, Marcus Stroman's last start, (his first start after injuring his shoulder), was solid.

Hopefully, Stroman is going to have another quality start tonight.

Report: James Declines Option From Cleveland


LeBron James


There's reports indicating that NBA superstar, LeBron James has declined a $35.6 million player option from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This means that James is probably going to become a free agent.

It is not too surprising if James decides goes into the free agent market.

There's been rumors going around for months.

Teams linked to james are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets.

Bregman Breaks The Hearts Of The Blue Jays With Ninth Inning Homer

Alex Bregman hit a two run homer in the ninth inning yesterday.


It was another heartbreaking loss for the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday afternoon.

Up 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Houston Astros's Alex Bregman hit a two run homer to give his team the 7-6 victory.

The Jays got off on a fast start in yesterday's game, scoring five runs at the top of the first inning.

First, Yangervis Solarte drove in Randal Grichuk with a RBI double.

Teoscar Hernandez scored on a sacrifice fly by Kendrys Morales.

Then, Kevin Pillar drove in Solarte with a single.

Aledmys Diaz drove in Steve Pearce with a single.

Finally, Pillar scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke Maile.

Houston, however, clawed their way back in the bottom of the inning.

Evan Gattis drove in George Springer and Jose Altuve with a double.

Josh Reddick made it 5-3 by driving in Gattis with a single.

Gattis made it 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, driving in Bregman with a double.

The Jays went up by two runs again in the top of the sixth inning when Pillar scored on an error.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Gattis went two for four and collected three RBIs.

Pillar and Diaz went three for four at the plate.  Both players also had a RBI yesterday.

Houston's starting pitcher, Dallas Keuchel, gave up seven hits, six earned runs, three walks, and struck out three batters in 5.1 innings pitched.

Keuchel's counterpart, Marco Estrada, also gave up seven hits, three earned runs, three walks, and struck out a batter in five innings pitched.

Toronto is off today, but is back at it tomorrow night as the Jays kick off a four games series at home against the Detroit Tigers.
