"We knew it was going to be a grind," said Leaf's head coach, Mike Babcock, at the post game press conference.
"I thought it was really good game for our team."
The Leafs also managed to stay out of the penalty box.
Toronto just had three penalties in the game.
There was no scoring in the first period.
Alex Lafallo put L.A. ahead 1-0 at 5:46 of the second period.
Alex Kerfoot tied the game at 13:29.
Auston Matthews put the Leafs ahead 2-1 at 12:36 of the third period.
William Nylander added another goal for Toronto at 13:06.
Both Matthews and Nylander had two points.
