Washington Capital's captain, Alex Ovechkin shined brightly last night by scoring a hat-trick in a 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ovechkin scored at 12:43 and 19:13 of the first period.
Ovechkin's teammate, Jakub Vrana made it 3-0 at 11:02 of the second period.
The Leafs finally got on the scoreboard at 1:24 of the third period when Jake Gardiner scored.
Nikita Zaitev closed the gap to 3-2 Capitals at 6:09 of the (third) period.
Unfortunately for the Leafs, Ovechkin scored at 19:51 to secure the victory.
Washington's T.J. Oshie got three assists last night.
Toronto faces the Calgary Flames Tuesday night.
