Auston Matthews scores the winner in O.T.
The Toronto Maple Leafs ended their 14 game losing streak at the Bell Centre in Montreal thanks to Auston Matthews.
Yes. Matthews did it again.
48 seconds into overtime, Matthews flipped the puck passed Montreal Canadien's goalie, Carey Price to give the Leafs the 4-3 win.
Things didn't start out good for the Leafs in the first period.
Montreal's Jeff Petry scored at 2:19 of the opening period to put his team ahead 1-0.
Thankfully, James Van Riemsdyk tied the game up at 7:32 of the first (period).
44 seconds later, Matthews put the Leaf's ahead 2-1.
Alex Galchenyuk, who has been struggling this season, tied the game before the period was over.
The Canadiens went ahead again at 11:33 of the second period with a goal by Jonathan Drouin.
The Leafs tied the game 3-3 before the end of the second period.
There was no scoring in the third period.
Matthews scored his second goal in O.T. to give the Leafs the victory.
Drouin ended the night with two points.
Toronto's goalie, Frederik Andersen stopped 31 shots last night.
