Rangers Avoids Sweep In A Huge Way

The Texas Rangers avoided the three game sweep in a huge way by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 yesterday afternoon.

Delino DeShields put the Rangers ahead 1-0 at the top of the second inning when he drove in Nomar Mazara with a RBI single.

Texas went up 3-0 at the top of the fourth inning when Danny Santana hit a two run double.

Later that same inning, Elvis Andrus put the Rangers ahead 4-0, driving in Santana with a RBI single.

The Jays finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Randal Grichuk scored on a fielder's choice.

Andrus made it a 5-1 at the top of the sixth inning when he drove in Santana with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the sixth, Teoscar Hernandez scored on a wild pitch.

Later in the inning, Danny Jansen drove in Rowdy Tellez with a RBI single.

It was all Texas from there.

At the top of the seventh inning, Mazara hit a solo home run.

At the top of the eighth inning, Santana hit a solo home run.

Andrus went four for five at the plate and had two RBIs.

Santana finished the night with three RBIs.

Texas starting pitcher, Kolby Allard, went 5.2 innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, three walks, and struck out three batters.

Jansen went two for four at the plate and had a RBI.

Jay's starter, Sean Reid-Foley struggled last night on the mound.

Foley went just 3.1 innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, three walks, and struck out just three batters.

Toronto is off today, but the team opens up a weekend series with the Seattle Mariners tomorrow night.
